Almost There (FORGE promo draft)

Another quick update...
Odell and I have been burning on the FORGE promo video. The rough draft version is almost done and ready for review and input. We are starting to think toward sound mix, color correction, DVD packaging, etc. It's looking good! The VO works well.
Once this draft of the promo is done, editing on the feature will begin as we await input.

Promo Progress

Once again, much has happened since my last update.
Brandon and I have run through several iterations of the FORGE promo script, and yesterday Odell and I recorded VO (voice-over) in Amit's recording studio with a woman named Eleni, a native of Zimbabwe. As usual, good material was obtained.
Odell and I have spent the last week blocking out the promo video, and now that we have VO, we are about to delve into hardcore editing. Soon the piece will take a concrete shape.

Trailer is Available for Online Viewing!

2004 - overall a wonderful year for me - ended on a sad note with the Tsunami tragedy. However, through the sadness I learned several things. First is that the world community is very generous in times of need when the need is made clear to them. Large companies like Apple and Microsoft replaced their normal home pages with instructions on giving aid. Bill Clinton has something worthwhile to do in his retirement. The US military is engaged in operations that have overwhelming international support. I find hope in these actions.
The second thing I noticed is how I related to the incident. I've been to Chennai in India and Phuket in Thailand, and I had friends vacationing in the Thai island chains at the time of the Tsunamis. Fortunately, they were ok. However, I see that I related to the whole situation through the places I have seen and the people I know. I remember walking the beaches of Koh Phi Phi, amongst the resorts that have now vanished, through the beach markets in India which have been swept away. These images mean much more to me than what I see from the windows of helicopters on CNN.
It is that feeling of identifying with a situation that Zambian Forge must evoke.

Before I post additional updates, the moment several people have been waiting for has arrived. The Zambian Forge trailer is now available to view online! Check it out:

Click "View Reel" just under my name. The first thing to load will be the trailer, followed by my film reel.

Other notes:
I shot a follow-up interview with Tom Silverman in Pittsburgh which I have digitized already.
I am 1/2 of the way through digitizing the tapes from Dukwi, Botswana for the FORGE promo video.
Odell arrives tomorrow night!
A lot of legal back end work was completed over the holidays. I won't bore people with details.

Happy New Year everyone!
Forge on in 2005.
